Product Description

500ms/cm Digital Graphite 4 Pole Conductivity TDS Salinity Sensor

>>Overview

Since water contains various dissolved salts that exist in the form of ions, when electrodes are inserted into water and electricity is applied, these charged ions migrate in specific directions under the electric field. The movement of anions towards the anode enables aqueous solutions to conduct electricity. This conductive capacity of water is termed conductivity. As the reciprocal of resistivity, conductivity reflects the total dissolved salt content in water and serves as a crucial water quality indicator, demonstrating the presence of electrolytes in water. The degree of electrical conduction varies with electrolyte concentration in solutions. By measuring solution conductivity, we can analyze the dissolution degree of electrolytes - this constitutes the fundamental analytical principle of conductivity meters. Conductivity shows significant temperature dependence. Metallic conductivity decreases with rising temperature, whereas semiconductor conductivity increases with temperature. Doping levels in solid-state semiconductors can dramatically alter conductivity, where increased doping leads to higher conductivity. The conductivity of aqueous solutions depends on the concentration of dissolved salts or other chemical impurities that dissociate into electrolytes. Measuring water conductivity serves as an important parameter for assessing its salt content, ionic components, and impurity levels. Lower conductivity (higher resistivity) indicates purer water. Water conductivity is often recorded as conductivity coefficient, which refers to the conductivity measured at 25°C.
