Product Description

Cyanide Online Water Quality Analyzer

>>Overview

Cyanides typically refer to inorganic compounds containing the ‌cyanide ion (CN⁻)‌. Common cyanides include ‌sodium cyanide (NaCN)‌, ‌potassium cyanide (KCN)‌, and ‌hydrogen cyanide (HCN)‌. These simple cyanides are water-soluble and highly toxic.
Cyanides are rapidly absorbed by the human body through ingestion, inhalation, or dermal contact. Upon entering the stomach, cyanides hydrolyze into ‌hydrogen cyanide (HCN)‌ under gastric acid dissociation and enter the bloodstream. In circulation, CN⁻ binds to Fe³⁺ in ‌cytochrome oxidase‌, forming ‌cyanmethemoglobin‌, which disrupts electron transport in the respiratory chain, leading to cellular hypoxia and death. Due to cyanides' high solubility in lipids, the central nervous system—particularly respiratory centers—is acutely affected. ‌Respiratory failure‌ is the primary cause of death in acute cyanide poisoning.

>>Principle

The cyanide online analyzer employs a process where ‌tartaric acid‌ and ‌zinc nitrate‌ are added to the water sample, followed by heated distillation. Simple and some complex cyanides are volatilized as ‌hydrogen cyanide (HCN)‌, absorbed by ‌sodium hydroxide‌, and reacted with ‌chloramine-T‌ to form cyanogen chloride. This intermediate reacts with the chromogenic agents ‌isonicotinic acid‌ and ‌pyrazolone‌, rapidly generating a red-colored compound. The compound exhibits maximum absorbance at ‌546nm‌ and remains stable within a defined timeframe.
